A net is a safety component before it is anything else. Golf Sim Oracle records the ball speed each listing says its net is rated for, the footprint it needs and the frame it is built on, and reports how many listings state no speed at all.

Golf Sim Oracle tracks 22 nets and enclosures on Amazon and measures every listing against the specifications that actually decide the purchase. Of the 22 we currently hold, six state ball-speed rating and 16 do not. That gap is the finding. These are not obscure figures: they are the ones a buyer needs before choosing, and they are missing from the listing that is doing the selling. Prices and category rankings come from the Amazon Product Advertising API and are refreshed twice a day, so no figure here is more than 24 hours old; 22 of the 22 carry a live price at the moment this page was built. What follows is not a review. Golf Sim Oracle does not test equipment and does not claim to, and the brands that dominate this category publish no specification documents to cite either. Every claim quoted below is the seller's own wording, and the counts above are our measurement of those listings rather than of the products themselves. A listing that omits a specification has not told us the product lacks it.

What ball speed does a golf net need to handle?
A driver leaves the face somewhere around 150 mph for a club golfer and higher for a strong player. A net rated below that is not unsafe by design so much as short-lived: it is being asked to do something outside what its maker tested. The rating is the first thing to look for and the thing most listings leave out.
What is the difference between a hitting net and an enclosure?
A net catches the ball. An enclosure is a frame with netting on the sides and the roof and usually an impact screen at the back, so it also contains the shots that leave the face sideways and gives a projector something to throw onto. If you plan to project an image, you are buying an enclosure whatever the listing calls it.
How much room does a net need behind the ball?
More than the net footprint suggests, because the ball has to be far enough from the netting that it decelerates rather than rebounding, and you have to stand somewhere with a full swing. Our room-fit calculator works from the launch monitor first, since that usually sets the tighter constraint.
