Privacy
Golf Sim Oracle collects as little as it can get away with, and never stores your IP address in a readable form.
Affiliate clicks
When you follow an outbound link to a retailer we record which link was clicked, which page you clicked it from, your browser's user-agent string, and the time. This is how we know which pages are useful.
Your IP address is never stored. It is passed through a keyed one-way hash (HMAC-SHA256) so repeat clicks from one visitor can be collapsed into one, and discarded. The stored value cannot be turned back into an IP address, and rotating our key breaks the link to older records entirely.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages people read and where they get stuck. These set cookies (_ga, _ga_*, _clck). Neither is loaded on development or preview builds.
Retailers
Once you follow a link to a retailer you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. Affiliate programmes set their own cookies to attribute a purchase. Amazon's lasts 24 hours; most direct retailers' last 30 days.
