An impact screen has two jobs that pull against each other: absorb a golf ball at speed, and return a projector image brightly enough to look like a golf course. Golf Sim Oracle counts how many listings state either.

Golf Sim Oracle tracks ten impact screens on Amazon and measures every listing against the specifications that actually decide the purchase. Of the ten we currently hold, zero state projector gain and ten do not. That gap is the finding. These are not obscure figures: they are the ones a buyer needs before choosing, and they are missing from the listing that is doing the selling. Prices and category rankings come from the Amazon Product Advertising API and are refreshed twice a day, so no figure here is more than 24 hours old; ten of the ten carry a live price at the moment this page was built. What follows is not a review. Golf Sim Oracle does not test equipment and does not claim to, and the brands that dominate this category publish no specification documents to cite either. Every claim quoted below is the seller's own wording, and the counts above are our measurement of those listings rather than of the products themselves. A listing that omits a specification has not told us the product lacks it.

Questions people ask

What is projector gain on an impact screen?
Gain is how much of the projector light the screen sends back toward you rather than scattering it. A gain of 1.0 is a neutral white reference. Below that the image goes dim, above it the image brightens but the viewing angle narrows. It is the specification a screen exists to deliver and it is almost never printed on a golf listing.
Can you use a normal projector screen for golf?
No. A home cinema screen is built for light, not impact, and a golf ball will go through it. Impact screens are woven from heavier material and hung with slack so the fabric can move with the strike. The two products look similar in a photograph and are not interchangeable.
What size impact screen do I need?
The screen sets the picture, so it also sets the projector distance: throw ratio multiplied by screen width is where the projector has to sit. Work out the screen first and the projector second, because the screen is constrained by your walls and the projector is only constrained by the screen.
