That distinction decides how much a reading is worth. A measured spin rate and a spin rate inferred from ball speed and launch angle are printed in the same font and are not the same fact. Most manufacturers publish a single metric count that quietly mixes both.
Golf Sim Oracle tracks the published space requirement for every launch monitor it covers, and Rapsodo is unusual in doing the arithmetic itself. On the MLM2PRO product page, read 2026-08-09, Rapsodo states that a little more than 14 total feet is needed indoors: 8 feet from ball to the net, and another 6.5 to 8.5 feet behind the ball for the unit, which sits directly behind the ball aimed down the target line. Rapsodo publishes no minimum ceiling height. It is also the only unit here that separates what it measures from what it derives. Rapsodo lists eight measured parameters, ball speed, club speed, launch angle, launch direction, spin rate, spin axis, club path and angle of attack, against seven calculated ones, smash factor, carry distance, total distance, side carry, descent angle, apex and shot type. That distinction is worth more than a headline metric count, because a measured spin rate and a spin rate inferred from other readings print identically on a results screen. Rapsodo claims spin within 1% of the accuracy of high-priced launch monitors when using RPT balls, which are a consumable rather than a one-off cost.
